"Wh-where "
The eyes began to shrink and she could just make out one shadow breaking away from the wall. The eyes stopped at the head of the shadow, just as it broke of to form an entirely separate void of it's own.
"Not quite as secure now, are we?" Malavarious said. "No, you always took comfort in the great distance between us. But here in your own subconscious, we couldn't be closer."
Emma tried to recover. She tried to act tough. She tried desperately not to have him see the bead of sweat crawling down her forehead.
"You can't really be here, so you can't really hurt me. This is all just a

"Aileen, wake oop already! We 'ave church in a few minutes!"
The even thicker accent of Aileen's mum shot upstairs and into Aileen's room. Aileen mumbled something unintelligible and crawled out of bed. She noted it was especially hot as she headed for the bathroom. She wondered how hot it was outside.
She walked into the bathroom and began brushing her teeth. The toothbrush was practically burning at her skin. She gargled the water briefly then spat. As she looked up, she noticed something odd. In the corner of the mirror was a small shadow with large glowing eyes. As she began to study it, the

Malavarious moved about his marble prison with a newfound sense of urgency and purpose. Ubel, his faithful servant, followed closely behind, attempting to reason with him.
"Master, please. Rethink this. You are not at your full strength yet. If this fails, who knows what will happen to your already fragile form "
"Ubel, please. You sound like my mother. Part of the reason I killed her. Besides, I've gained a lot of my strength back."
Malavarious leapt up to his now massive throne and sat himself in it comfortably.
"It's time I get my boots on the ground and take cha

The Gorgon slithered around the statue of Emma, wearing away the base, so it could be lifted. Small spines on its tail crushed the edges of Emma's stone feet, firmly planted in the soil. It took great care in not harming her. Malavarious demanded the child be brought to him alive.
A twig snapped and the Gorgon turned and to face Drake, the young man standing before it. The Gorgon let out a loud hiss. Drake stood and stared for a moment, then screamed like a little girl and ran off.
The Gorgon laughed.
"Boys these days. Spine like worm."
Billy seized this opportunity to pounce on the Gorgon from behind

" and then the bird ate it." Billy finished between laughs. Lisa laughed in response, finding the stories about magic most amusing. They had decided to hang out in North Border as there was simply more to do in the more urban sections of the town (South Border had no urban sections of which to speak). There were many stores they looked at but bought nothing from (annoying several shop keepers), food stands they ate at, and streets they loitered on.
"That was funny, but the tandoori chicken story is by far your funniest."
"Hey," Billy responded. "The Tandoori Chicken event is a horrifying experience

Joe was used to his bar accepting the stranger assortment of characters than most bars did. After all, he lived in a Mage way station and some of the odder creatures tended to pass by. But none were as strange as the cloaked figure in the corner. He didn't order anything, or ask for anything. He just stood there, surveying the other customers.
A big, burly, bearded man watched the cloaked figure in the corner of the room. He smirked at the guy, while his few buddies tried to ignore the figure. Joe, being polite, felt it was best to try and get the figure what he needed, so he would leave.
"Pardon me."

Science was perhaps one of Billy's least favorite classes. When you have a sister who can reassemble the atoms of nearly any structure and conjure flames from her fingers without even burning herself, the laws of physics and biology felt less important. As such, he was finding it very difficult to stay awake in Professor Birch's class, a fact that annoyed Professor Birch to no end, as he was forced to slam Billy's desk again to keep him conscious.
"Mr. Blackman!" He yelled, as Billy sat bolt upright. "Thank you for volunteering. So, tell me, how does one find the momentum of any given object as it moves?"
